The tariffs for the transmission grid are set to increase for the first time in seven years. A household with an annual consumption of 4,500 kWh will pay an average of CHF 50 for Swissgrid’s services in 2022. This amounts to around 6 per cent of its annual electricity costs.
The new Swissgrid and SiL facilities at the Romanel electrical substation are now in operation, contributing to supply security in French-speaking Switzerland and the stability of the power grid.
The transmission system operators from Denmark and Slovenia have joined the international cooperation for primary control power (frequency containment reserves, FCR) in which Swissgrid is also involved. The cooperation increases the efficiency of the FCR market.
Transfer of the extra-high-voltage grid to Swissgrid
The Swiss Federal Electricity Commission (ElCom) has issued several rulings whose implementation will result in an increase in Swissgrid’s non-current assets. On this basis, Swissgrid will raise the remuneration for a number of former transmission system owners.
Swissgrid submitted two different planning corridors to the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) to replace the existing extra-high-voltage line between Marmorera and Tinzen. The line is used to carry energy from the hydroelectric power plants in Bregaglia.
10 leading transmission system operators launch joint initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
This greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction effort will tackle their own carbon footprint while also addressing much greater opportunities at system level, driven by electrification and the integration of renewable electricity sources (RES).
